1. Athletics for Kids Beach Volleyball Tournament

Volleyball enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to register for the AK4 co-ed beach volleyball tournament this Saturday, August 15th in Lower Lonsdale. The tournament is a fundraiser for Athletic for Kids, an organization that puts B.C. kids in sports that otherwise couldn’t afford it. Registration is $110 per team or $25 per individual. The event runs 9:00am to 4:00pm with seeding matches in the morning and playoffs in the afternoon. Click here to register.

The 1st Annual A4K Beach Volleyball Tournament is Saturday, August 15th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at The Shipyards beach volleyball courts (foot of Lonsdale avenue).

2. Cypress Challenge

On Sunday, August 16th 600+ cyclists will climb to the top of Cypress Mountain in support of the BC Cancer Foundation and pancreatic cancer research. If you are up for the challenge, you can register online for the complete 12k climb or the 5k ride to First Lookout here until Friday, August 14th. You can also register during the rider check-in times on the day of the event. Entry is by a minimum suggested donation of $40.

The 8th Annual Cypress Challenge is Sunday, August 16th at 7:30am. A reception with raffle prizes, awards, music and food will be held atop Cypress following the ride.

3. Play It Forward for Mental Health

The Play It Forward Society raises funds for charities by producing collaborative musical events throughout the Lower Mainland. On Sunday, August 16th, the society is hosting Play [Mental Health] Forward, a concert benefiting local mental health organizations. Eight local artists will perform at the concert which starts at 6:00pm at The Pipe Shop in Lower Lonsdale. Admission is by donation.
