City Council voted 5-2 to leave current bylaws banning gambling within the City of North Vancouver unchanged. Mayor Darrell Mussatto and Councillor Holly Back were the two opposed.
This decision definitely takes the wind out of Playtime Gaming’s plans to build a gaming facility in Lower Lonsdale.
However, this doesn’t mean that North Vancouver will never have its own gaming facility in the future–the councillors generally agree that more research needs to be done before a consensus can be reached.
Other municipalities, such as Burnaby, were wary at first then changed their minds to support gaming facilities.
