The Outdoor Plaza at Lonsdale Quay Market is the place to be this Summer. With FREE activities happening every Thursday-Sunday, there is a little bit of something for everyone! The Annual SummerFest 2015 began June 26th and is running all the way to September 6th so there is still plenty of fun to be had. Also, with everything being free, Lonsdale Quay is accepting donations with all proceeds going towards KidSport North Shore.
Here is what a week at SummerFest is like:
Yoga Thursdays: FREE Pier Yoga with Lululemon Park Royal from 6:30-7:30pm B.Y.O.M. (bring your own mat)
Is there not a better day of the week to get your Namaste on? This is the perfect chance to unwind from the work week and gear up for the weekend. Each class features a different instructor from our North Shore community and is guaranteed to be a good workout and a good time.
Feel-good Fridays: FREE Zumba with Steve Nash Fitness World from Noon-1:00pm.
For those of you that don’t know what Zumba is, it is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance using easy-to-follow moves paired with hypnotic Latin rhythms. I love this kind of workout experience because you end up having so much fun you forget that you’re sweating!
Dance Saturdays: FREE Cultural Dance lessons with Salsa Studio from 2:00-4:00pm.
Do you watch Dancing with the Stars every week just wishing you could learn the moves? This is your chance. These lessons are for all levels of experience and they will have you dancing the salsa, merengue and bachata in no time.
Concert Series Sundays: FREE live concerts from 1:00-3:00pm.
Do your Sunday morning ritual and then head down to the Outdoor Plaza to take in a free concert. What I love about this event is that they feature musical artists from difference music genres each week. From Bluegrass and Rockabilly to American Classic ad R&B. Appease your own musical taste and get the chance to appreciate a new one.
AND to top it all off the Piano’s in the Street installation will be at the Outdoor Plaza all summer for those who are musically inclined!
