Today, we were invited for a tour of the (almost complete) Polygon Gallery located at the foot of Lonsdale. Formerly the Presentation House Gallery, the new space will feature 3-4 exhibitions a year, with its inaugural exhibition N. Vancouver, providing an opportunity for the Gallery’s first audiences to witness the imaginative possibilities of visual artworks in discourse with the immediate surroundings of its new home. To encourage the public’s access to the arts, the gallery will be admission by donation for the first 4 years.
The main floor ‘atrium’ was designed to be open concept and not impede the view of the Burrard Inlet–the room is bright and spacious. The top floor hosts 3 main gallery rooms with incredibly tall glass ceilings welcoming light from all angles. There is also an open space with access to second floor outdoor deck for events & functions. The views are pretty spectacular we must say.
Being that they are putting in the final touches, we were only able to get a small preview of the works that will reside within the walls of the new gallery. We’re pretty stoked that they’re focus is on photography and it gives us all the more reason to check it out when the doors officially open on November 18th.
