After months of hot, dry, wonderful weather the rain finally returned, and it came back with a vengeance. Trees down, storm drains blocked, power out – this past weekend was a doozy. It also left a TON of great puddles, and the perfect excuse to channel your inner child and go play outside. Want to puddle jump like a pro? Here’s how we do it.
- Dress the part
It’s still summer for a few more weeks, but you can get a jump start on boot season by slipping into your rubber boots for some quality puddle action. They’ll keep you dry(ish) as you splish splash though your afternoon constitutional.
None of this casually strolling up to a puddle and doing a little hop, you’ve got to give it your all. See a big one looming in the distance? Don’t chicken out when it’s time to lift off. Commit to the jump.
- Don’t be afraid to get wet
Remember when you were a kid and you would go home covered in mud, soaking wet and be immediately transposed into a tub by your mom/dad/babysitter/siblings? Relive the glory days and go all in – you can dry off when you get home.
- Take a run at it
Put inertia to work in your favour by taking a run at a puddle and seeing if you can clear it. Run, jump – what’s the worse that can happen? If you don’t quite make it you make killer splash instead.
This should go without saying, but make sure your puddle of choice is clear before you take a running jump or go splashing through. Please don’t soak unsuspecting people who may or may not appreciate your inner child puddle extravaganza.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and get wet!
