When it comes to staying focused in the new year, here are five key tips you can count on:
1. Write Down Your Goals
Think about what you want to accomplish that day, by the end of that week, and by the end of that month. What you write down will catapult you towards your year-end goal. Big or small–these goals should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time bound).
2. Prep Your Meals
This sounds very time consuming, we know, and it will be at first until you make a habit of it. There are so many times that we find ourselves making unhealthy eating choices just because we didn’t plan ahead. By prepping your meals you won’t be reaching for those instant noodles in the back of your cabinet. You will also save money because you will reduce the number of times you are eating out.
3. Carry Snacks
This goes hand-in-hand with tip #2. Always carry a healthy snack with you, because you never know when hunger is going to strike! Apples and peanut butter, yogurt with berries, or veggies and hummus are always a good idea.
4. Schedule Your Workouts
Similar to goal setting but more specific. For example if your goal is to workout for 30 mins a day five days a week, look at your week and see when you are going to be able to fit these workouts in. If your gym has classes, look at their schedule and see which ones you can make work. Better time management will help you make room for the exercise you need.
5. Find a Workout Buddy
There are definitely times that it is REALLY tough to get up and go to the gym, especially when it’s cold outside. However, if you have someone that you can rely on that you’ve already made workout plans with then you’re more likely to follow through. Workout buddies can also be great motivators and make workouts more fun.
Remember, there is no quick and dirty way to lose 5 pounds or to miraculously get a six pack. It’s all about consistency and patience. To get there you will need to #FindYourFocus
